to remove Dial-Up Networking
1. Click [Start]
2. Choose [Settings]
3. Choose [Control Panel]
4. Double-click the [Add/Remove Programs] icon
5. Select the [Windows Setup] tab
6. Highlight "Communications"
7. Click [Details]
8. Deselect "Dial-Up Networking"
9. Click [OK]
10. Click [OK] again
This completes the removal
procedure. Restart the system for these changes will take
effect.
Note: Do not remove Network Components from a system
that is cofigured for a Local Area Network (LAN). Contact
your System Administrator for assistance or more information
on the proper configuration for your system.
How to install Dial-Up
Networking
Note: Ensure you have either the Windows95/98
software CD-ROM, Windows95/98 Upgrade Disk from Windows
3.1, Windows95/98 31/2" diskettes, or the Windows95/98
.cab files before you begin this procedure.
Procedure
1. From your Desktop,
double-click the [My
Computer] icon
2. Double-click the [Control Panel] icon
3. Double-click the [Add/Remove Programs] icon
4. Select the [Windows Setup] tab
5. Double-click [Communications]
6. Select "Dial-Up-Networking"
7. Click [OK]
8. Click [OK] again
9. You may be prompted by,
"You will need to restart your computer in order
for the changes to take affect. Do you wish to restart
your computer." If so, select [No]
10. You may be prompted
to provide Computer and Workgroup names for the computer.
If so, enter a name for your Computer Name and "Workgroup"
for the Workgroup Name.
- Note: Do not use your Prodigy Internet
User Name or Password in the Identification area.
11. In the [Control Panel], double-click the [Network] icon
12. Select the [Configuration] tab
13. Verify "TCP\IP for Dial-Up Adapter" is installed. If not, install
"TCP\IP for Dial-Up Adapter" before reconnecting
with Prodigy Internet
14. Close all applications
and windows
15. Click [Start]
... [Shutdown]
16. Select [Restart the computer]
17. Click [OK]
