SYMPTOM
While attempting to connect,
I receive the following error message:
Error 691:
Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on
the domain.
CAUSE
This error occurs when Prodigy
Internet cannot validate your Username or Password because:
1. You typed in your Username or
Password incorrectly
2. Your modem wasn't able to maintain
a connection to Prodigy's modem during the logon process
3. Prodigy's logon system is temporarily
malfunctioning
4. Invalid Prodigy account or your
account has been deactivated
5. Your TCP/IP settings are no longer
correct. For instance, if you switched to a new modem recently,
your TCP/IP settings may have been reset to the default values
RESOLUTION
You typed in your Username
or Password incorrectly
1. Carefully check your username
and password for errors
2. Passwords are case-sensitive
Your modem wasn't able to maintain
a connection to Prodigy's modem during the logon process
1. Try connecting again
Prodigy's logon system is temporarily
malfunctioning
1. Try connecting again
Your TCP/IP settings are no longer
correct
SOLVING
Try typing on the customer
web page address (http://pages.prodigy.net/username/) then press Enter,
if client have an account page or fifes will come up. Then try
typing his password on this formula on the
Address box ---- fttp://username:[email protected]/
---- If OK no error message will come up.
